What is Anal Douching?

"Douche" means "shower" in French, but when it comes to Anal douching, there's more to unpack. Anal douching is the process of flushing out the anal canal with water to clean it. It works by gently pushing liquid into your rectum, softening stool residue, and relaxing your anus to help release excrement. Some people use Anal douching to prepare themselves for Anal play, while others incorporate it into their hygiene rituals.

Why Anal Douching?

Some people have reported that Anal douching helped them feel cleaner and more prepared when exploring Anal play or Anal sex. Cleansing preemptively can reduce the worry of leaving unwanted residue on your partner, so you can feel present and focused on the play. The act of Anal douching also helps minimize contact with feces during butt play, reducing the risk of exposing your partner to bacterial infections from fecal matter.

Despite how good the Anal douching process might make you feel, don’t go overboard with it. Too much of anything can be harmful, and we recommend only douching up to three times a week maximum.

Tips to Prep for Anal Douching

Before you start, make sure to prepare the bathroom area first, then do the douching process in the shower. A toilet can also be used in last minute situations. Bottom line, it’s important that you are in a sanitized and slip-free zone where contents from the douche and your anal canal can fall freely and be washed away.

Tip 1

Cleanse your tools. Before beginning the process, thoroughly clean your douching materials, such as nozzles and hoses. If you use soap or disinfectants, be sure to rinse well with water several times to prevent surfactants from entering your body. Read your labels, always looking for body-safe options that are free from risky ingredients.

Tip 2

For the best results, use a saline solution designed specifically for Anal douching. These saline solutions are meant to compliment your bodies natural electrolytes.  If you plan to use tap water, check your water temperature before filling your hoses. Finding the right temperature that feels comfortable for you is important. If you use water that is too hot, you can risk damaging your anus’ mucosal lining. This is easy to avoid. Just test the lukewarm water on your hands before amply filling your hoses. Avoid using tap water for daily anal cleansing in order to prevent electrolyte imbalances.

Tip 3

Lubricate the tip of your Douche. For easy insertion and a painless experience, take your favorite Lube and apply a generous amount around the tip of your Douche. A Silicone Lube may be preferable since it is naturally thicker and it will last longer against the water, but make sure to use a lubricant that is compatible with the material of your Douche.

How to Anal Douche?

The Anal douching process is straightforward and leaves you feeling fresh. Stand securely to avoid slipping, then follow these steps:

Step 1

Elevate one foot onto a shower stool or bench and gently spread your legs to reach your butt more easily. Before using the Douche, consider inserting a finger into your anal canal to ease into the sensation.

Step 2

Next, lubricate the Douche tip, take a slow, deep breath, and insert the tip through the anus into the rectum. Try to relax and go with the flow.

Step 3

Firmly squeeze the bulb to send a surge of water inside, but avoid forcing the water too deeply or quickly. The goal is to fill the anal canal, not push into the colon.

Step 4

Hold the liquid inside of you for a few seconds and then let it out. It's normal for poop and grime to come out with the water– this means the process is working!

Repeat

Continue until there's no residue left in the water. If the bulb is small, you might need to refill it to finish the process. Some Douche Kits come with larger bulbs or sacks, so you only need to refill them once per session.
